5 Reasons Why You Should Try a Raw Food Meet Up!

This weekend I had the pleasure of hosting a raw food potluck for the K-W Raw Food Meet Up. It was a success and the turnout was a great. Big thank you to all of the members!

5 Reasons Why You Should Try a Raw Food Meet Up:

1. You get to sample a multitude of raw food dishes. Having access to 15-20 different dishes to choose from is amazing.

2. The company is just as great as the food. You will meet all sorts of people from all walks of life and most of them are passionate about raw food whether they are new to the raw movement or have been in it for a while.

3, Share resources on raw food recipes, books, films and information.

4. You become part of a community. You can do a lot of things together like go see health related movies, have discussions and go to raw food events together.

5. The sweetest part is the SUPPORT. Whatever stage you are in on your raw food/health journey you can get moral support from other's in the group. I think this is one of the most important points. While you start to eat more and more raw food it is nice to have the support of others to help you along the way.

I hope you get out there before summer is over and enjoy some raw food with friends! Big THANK YOU to all my raw foodies for the great day.

If you haven't seen it yet, I would love for you to check out the guest post that I wrote on Crazy Sexy Life on "Raw Food Strategies For Your Family" and leave a comment.

.............Stay tuned for our next contest coming up soon.

  1. LOVE your photos, Sasha. Makes me want to meet you at a Meet Up right now! :)

  2. Sasha, these pictures are delicious! I am salivating. I have never been to a raw food meet-up and I am not in your neck of the woods, but would like to learn more. I have been thinking about trying a raw food box by a new small business that came to my neighborhood a few months ago. Your blog has inspired me to try it! Thanks and I look forward to learning more.

  3. hi sasha,
as someone who has recently begun to incorporate a lot more raw food in their diet, i appreciated this post... many of my friends laugh at my dehydrator! lol...
the pictures tell a story of how raw food isn't just "nuts and berries" so newbies will appreciate them, especially the brownie picture!
come have a meet-up in nyc!

  4. All of those food pics are making me hungry! I love the idea of a raw food meet-up. Now I'm gonna go looking for a group.

Thanks for the great idea, Sasha!

  5. Hi Marissa,

I am hoping one day that we can connect over some raw food.:)

  6. Laurie,

Thank you for your comment. I am so excited you have found some inspiration here and are going to try a raw food box. Keep me posted and let me know how it goes and what you try. :)

  7. Xen Strength Yoga,

Thank you for your comment and so glad to hear that you are starting to incorporate more raw food into your diet. :) Yes the dehydrator is great to have to make lots of fun raw foods.

  8. gorgeous photos and the desserts look amazing. The raw desserts I have had are certainly not as good as those! I have been trying to eat 70% raw. It's pretty challenging living in NYC, but have been loving it.

  9. Darn good photos...thanks a lot...now I'm hungry! Loving the message that "the sweetest part is the support." That's the most delicious recipe for life!

I will officially try something other than the raw chewy bars from Whole Foods. Thanks for the friendly nudge. :)

P.S. I've seen the "Food Matters" video. Fantastic!

  10. I agree with Karen - on any journey, the most important (and oft overlooked) piece is the support! Just look at the amazingness happening with RHH B-School...

It's so wonderful to reach out and engage with others who are on a similar journey. Those that are just ahead can encourage you, and you can do that same in turn for those who aren't quite as far along as you are.

Congrats for finding your passion and using it as a catalyst to connect with others! Cheers to you!

  11. Your post made me very hungry! It's close to dinner time where I am and I'm thinking of all my favorite raw food dishes. Yum!

I still am partly raw, but I haven't made some of my fav dishes in awhile. This has totally inspired me that the next time I go grocery that I'm making some of my favorite dishes.

Nut pate with sprouts wrapped in nori seaweed or collard green leaf with a nice dip. MMMM

Raw cacao squares with raw almond butter...tastes better than reeses pieces. LOL

    Thanks for this.

I read your other article and loved it too! learning sooo much from you. You may not make me a total raw foodie... but I am certainly being wooed to incude more recipes in my family's diet! thank you!!!

  13. Tracy,

That is so great that you are eating so much raw food. The dessert was a cheesecake and it was pretty easy. When I make I don't always get fancy, however when I show people how wonderful raw can be, I try to jazz it up.:)

  14. Karin,

Thank you for your comment. Yes community is so very important especially when you are trying to make a lot of changes. You will have to let me know what you try at whole foods.:)

  15. Great post Sasha!!! I would love to host one of these in my area!!! How did you go about doing it?? I would love to find like minded people to share food/friendship with!!! The food looks great too!!!

  16. Thanks Alara,

I guessed that you may still be doing some raw because you have some awesome energy. I am glad you are going to get into some of your old recipes. Yes cacao and almond butter rules.:) Glad that you are leaving here inspired.

  17. Kp,

Thank you for your lovely comment. The great thing about the raw food community is that you get such a diverse group of people who come together. I am so happy to hear that you are inspired to add some recipes into your meals. Yeah!!

  18. Wow! Now I'm so hungry! It's been a while since I've spent time with close friends who are Raw foodies... a little too long, apparently. I'm going to go online tonight and see if there is a Raw Food meetup in my area. Time to implement this into my life again. Thanks for the inspiration Sasha!

  19. I just went to our local raw living foods meet up and we also had a wonderful table of living foods to sample. They are so great! Finding like minded people is so important on this health journey. Thanks for sharing your story.
    Peace & Raw Health,
