What is your INTENTION?

This past weekend my husband and I celebrated our 6 year Wedding Anniversary. Yeah!! If you know our story well, you will realize that this is a great day for us. Don't get me wrong, it is not that we are having problems. It is just that the amount of things that we have had to deal with and withstand in the last couple of years ranks pretty high on the stress level. Want to read more: My story is the 3rd one down.

This weekend turned out really great. We took a road trip into the country and had a raw picnic which of course included fresh fruit and cashew cream:). We also had a chance to look at some amazing paintings and jewelry while touring an art gallery. My daughter was away at my Aunt's house for the weekend, while my son stayed with us.

Even though life can be CHAOTIC and busy and crazy sometimes or a lot of the time. Setting your intentions for the day, week or even year can add focus, clarity and purpose to your days. So I new this weekend that even though it maybe busy and hectic that if I set the INTENTION to value our weekend and all of the time and effort that we have put into our marriage and family over the years that the outcome would be good.

Intention is defined as being a GOAL, a PLAN, an AIM or OBJECTIVE. It is a conscious thought or goal put into place in efforts to reach a desired outcome or experience.

You are probably wondering why I am talking about this on a raw food blog? To be honest I like sharing a little bit about myself and my family so that you get to know me a little better. However the main reason is that I think that to be healthy you need to take a holistic approach. Yes food is really important, but so is our thoughts and actions.

Intentions are POWERFUL and they can help you along your journey to better health and wellness. They can help align you in a direction that you desire. It just takes a few minutes at the start of the day to sit and write out your intention, or just to simply think of it before you jump out of bed to start your day.

So what is your INTENTION?

Is it to make a juice today?

Go to the local market and buy some fresh produce?

Or maybe make a fun new salad?

Maybe it is something even bigger than this. Whatever your goals and dreams are, start with your intention and you might be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

Take action now and set your intention for the week. I would love to hear from you. Share what you have set into motion for yourself this week.

  3. Girl, you never cease to amaze me! LOVE this post! Thank you for inspiring me...always. My intent this week, starting tomorrow, is to make a goal before my feet hit the floor each morning. Sometimes we get caught up in the hustle and bustle and lose focus. Thanks for the reminder, wise one! ;-) xo

  5. Great post Sasha! Happy Anniversary! I will go forth with intention today. Setting my goals now.

This is a fantastic reminder since I am now on a mostly vegan (raw) diet to figure out some health problems I have been having. It's been a bit of a struggle, but I am also in detox mode from coffee and sugar.

I look forward to reading more recipes and ideas.

  6. Oh Sasha, you speak to me here - both as a food-lover who struggles with eating the right things and as someone who helps others set goals.

Last week, I penned a list of intentions that I want to help guide me over the next few months. I have to say, following through with them has been a much more challenging step that writing them down. Each day, I have to have them in front of me and use them as reminders of what I need to do and why.

Thank you for the great post.

  8. Tracy Matthews,

Thank you. Great to hear that you are pursuing a raw vegan diet. Let me know what challenges you are having if any with implementing the diet. Well detoxing from coffee and sugar is great. That can make you feel crappy first, but so much better after. Way to go.

  16. Sasha, what a perfectly timed post! I am taking Sue Ann's "Body Wisdom Boot Camp" course which just started this week. I set overall intentions for the course and your post has given me an opportunity to clarify my intentions for the week. This week I commit to eating three meals each day (I sometimes forget to eat, and usually eat small amounts of food all day long rather than meals). This is in an effort to allowing my body to develop a healthy rhythm when it comes to food. Thanks for these suggestions!

  17. Congratulations on the 6 years! Beautiful! Love reading about you :)

What I have realized over the course of my career as a coach is that health is not only about the food you eat, but how you live.

Do you surround yourself by uplifting people? Do you love what you do? Do you have movement in your life? So much goes into it.

The intention that we create is so powerful. A woman I knew said that she doesn't like writing goals, but she likes creating intentions for the new year because they feel more meaningful.

Awesome post and as always I'm hungry again because of your pictures. LOL.

  18. Gorgeous photos! My intention today is to eat mindfully, in a way that energizes my body, not weighs it down. There will be juice (after that photo, how could there not be?!) and there will be some fresh meat or fish tonight. Thanks for the love-sharing!

  19. Sasha....I LOVE this post and think it TOTALLY belongs on a raw food site. Once we incorporate more raw foods into our life so many things start changing on many different levels. Our clarity, consciousness, intentions, thoughtfulness, "realness", and self-love start shining through like never before....it is a true awakening. On top of all that, the health benefits also totally rock!!!

This post is fantastic and hope you do more like it in the future! Living our lives with "Intention" is sooo important...thanks for the reminder and the tip to set them out in advance...awesome!!!

    xo, Tina

    also....your photos are beautiful!
